Ranger South Earns Recognition For Paving Quality
(1st / 2nd Quarter 2007)
Ranger South’s commitment to quality recently received accolades from the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), which has bestowed a 2006 Quality in Construction Award for Excellence in Hot-Mix Asphalt Pavement.
The award was presented for a $5.3 million FDOT project on I-95 in Broward County, FL. The project team milled and repaved three miles of interstate and 14 ramps, laying more than 29,000 tons of hot mix, of which nearly 10,000 tons was FC-5 with fiber and polymer.
Ranger South met many challenges on its way to a NAPA Quality In Construction award on its I-95 at I-595 interchange resurfacing project in South Florida.
It was the first time Ranger South had produced and placed this type of mix. Not only did team members do an excellent job placing a new hot mix, they also had no incidents on this high-profile and high-volume project. Project crews can take pride in a job well done!
Ranger South has a number of additional quality projects underway. The team is working on an $818,000 FDOT project to mill, pave and add signalization on Kendall Drive in Miami-Dade County. The division has also secured a $2.6 million project as subcontractor on improvements to the Sunrise Toll Booth on the Sawgrass Expressway.
In Pompano Beach, the division will improve Alsdorph Park by resurfacing roads and parking lots, and adding landscaping, concrete curb and sidewalks, striping and signs. The division continues to pursue and bid on paving and site work jobs for the county and state.
In Hallandale, Ranger is entering the final stretch of a $1.8 million urban reconstruction of Sheridan Street. The project includes paving, grading, sidewalks and curbs for the six-lane city street.
In the private sector, Ranger South has been busy meeting the needs of several repeat clients. Gulfstream Park Racing Association, which has been very satisfied with the division’s site work on its Gulfstream horse racing track and facility in Hallandale Beach, FL, has awarded another contract that covers drainage modifications to the property.
The division also has several ongoing projects with WCI Westinghouse Communities, a prominent Florida builder. The office has also secured paving work with a number of home owners’ associations, and other contractors throughout south Florida.
