Ranger-Built Course To Host PGA Event
(July 2004)
The Tournament Players Club (TPC) of Boston is hosting an officially sanctioned PGA Tour event later this year.
Who knows more about golf than the PGA Tour?
So when the Vecellio Group’s Ranger Golf was chosen to build the Tournament Players Club of Boston, part of a nationwide network of world-class TPC courses owned or operated by the PGA Tour, it was a huge feather in Rangers cap.
Now its time to add a few more feathers. Completed in 2001, the highly acclaimed TPC of Boston is the site of the second annual Deutsche Bank Championship, an officially sanctioned PGA Tour event with a $5 million total purse.
The nationally televised event showcases the beauty of the Arnold Palmer-designed course, built by Ranger Golf to complement and protect the surrounding environmentally sensitive lands.
The Deutsche Bank Championship held its inaugural event at the TPC of Boston in 2003, less than two years after construction, a rarity in the golfing world. It drew many of the PGAs most talented golfers, who vied for the $900,000 first-place prize money.
The 2004 event is scheduled for August 31 through September 6 (Labor Day). Defending champion is Scott Adams, who notched his first Tour win at the 2003 event.
The field again will feature many of the Tours leading players, with charitable proceeds benefiting the Tiger Woods Foundation.
Any time one of the courses weve built hosts a PGA event it is a huge compliment, said Jade Work, V.P. of Ranger Golf and a former professional golfer himself. Thats one of the most sincere compliments we can receive about the quality of our construction work.
The option exists for the TPC of Boston to host the Deutsche Bank Championship for an additional two years, extending through Labor Day 2006, according to Tour officials.
The TPC of Boston is a private course located in the Great Woods of Norton, Massachusetts.

Written and designed in-house, the full-color, eight-page pocket brochure features three distinct versions to showcase each of the groups heavy/highway units — Ranger Construction Industries, based in West Palm Beach, Florida; Ranger Construction — South, based in Pompano Beach, Florida; and Vecellio & Grogan, based in Beckley, West Virginia.
Two Awards of Distinction were also received for advertising and public/media relations, followed by an Honorable Mention for internal communications design.
The groups entire operations were represented in the 10 awards. In addition to its heavy/highway units, the Vecellio Group includes White Rock Quarries in Miami, Florida, one of the nation’s largest single-site quarries; and Ranger Golf, a leading course construction and renovation contractor that has worked with the PGA Tour and other high-profile owners and designers across the U.S.
The Communicator Awards is an internationally recognized awards organization honoring outstanding work in the communications field. The 2004 competition drew more than 3,700 entries from across the United States and abroad.
